Stiebel Eltron is a water-saving award finalist
The SNU 5 compact point-of-use electric storage water heater from Stiebel Eltron has been named as a finalist in the Water Saving Product of the Year category of the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of Western Australia’s 2012 Awards for Excellence.
Engineered to deliver hot water quickly, the SNU 5 can save both water and energy through a number of clever innovations and features. Its compact design allows for convenient installation underneath a sink, close to where the water is required. This reduces the amount of piping required and the time it takes for hot water to arrive at the outlet, especially in home installations where the central hot water service is located a long way from the point of use, creating ‘dead legs’ of cold water which have to be drawn off before usable hot water arrives at the outlet.
Greater water savings can be achieved if the central hot water system being compared is further away from the point of use, has a larger pipe size or greater number of draw-offs and cool-down periods. In addition to this, the SNU 5 can also save water through its unique open-vented design and expansion chamber that captures dripping water from the water-heating process and feeds this water back into the storage tank. The SNU 5 does not require a temperature and pressure relief valve, safe tray or drainage.
