Submissions invited on ESS Issues Paper

Thursday, 09 January, 2014

Submissions have been invited on an issues paper as part of a review of the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS). The paper was jointly released by NSW Trade & Investment and the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage.

Action 1 of the NSW Energy Efficiency Action Plan is to review the ESS to identify how it could be enhanced. The issues paper explores the following issues:

  • The energy-efficiency market - a national market for energy efficiency and the scheme’s role in transforming the products and services market.
  • Roles and responsibilities - the parties involved in delivering the ESS and the future roles that may be required to ensure the scheme is a success.
  • Scheme design - scheme targets and the scope of these targets in terms of fuel coverage, exemptions, support of vulnerable households and peak demand reduction.

The issues paper and submission form can be found on the NSW Trade & Investment website at: www.energy.nsw.gov.au/sustainable/efficiency/scheme.

Submissions on the issues paper close at 5 pm on 24 February 2014. To make a submission via email, send your submission form to: energysavings.scheme@trade.nsw.gov.au with this subject line: “ESS Review Issues Paper”.

NSW Trade & Investment and the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage plan to hold a consultation forum on the issues paper in late January or early February 2014. More information on this event will be posted on the NSW Trade & Investment website once the date and location are confirmed.
