LED lighting seminars
Lighting Council Australia has organised LED seminars in Brisbane (17 February), Sydney (19 February) and Melbourne (21 February). The seminars will be useful for lighting industry specialists, utilities, municipalities, town planners, facility managers, architects, engineers and other professionals with an interest in lighting.
The seminars will be presented by professor Georges Zissis, a renowned expert on solid-state lighting systems, with particular expertise in their applications for road lighting. Zissis is the head of the Light and Matter Research Group at LaPlaCE (Laboratoire Plasma et Conversion d’Énergie) at the University of Toulouse, France. In addition to a distinguished research career, Georges Zissis has dealt extensively with industry, government, NGOs and standardisation bodies - including as current Task 1 Leader of the IEA 4E SSL Annex. In 2006, Professor Zissis won the 1st Award of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Centenary Challenge for his work on standardisation for urban lighting systems (in conjunction with IEEE, IET and The Observer). In 2009, he won the Energy Globe Award for France and received the Fresnel Medal from the French Illuminating Engineering Society.
