NECA NSW 2008 Excellence and Apprentice Awards
The NECA NSW 2008 Excellence and Apprentice Awards were held on 26 September, rewarding professionalism within the industry for both its members and apprentices.
“The pace of technological change and degree of specialisation among our members is amazing,” said NECA NSW CEO Lindsay Le Compte.
“The awards provide a showcase of what we can do. Also, in recognising our aspiring apprentices, the industry demonstrates an ongoing commitment to its future.”
The Excellence Awards winners were:
- Domestic: Synergy Integrated Systems for residence in Palm Beach
- Small Contracting Business: Winner: Adrian Webb Electrical;
Certificate of Commendation: IMS Installations International - Environment and Energy Efficiency: Totalec for Beverly Hills cinema complex
- Industrial: Heyday Group for Epping to Chatswood Rail Line Stat-East Works
- Voice/Data small project (<$500,000): Stowe Australia for Baha’i national centre
- Voice/Data large project (>$500,000): Stowe Australia for Sydney Processing Centre, Norwest
- Commercial small project (<$500,000): Downer EDI Engineering Power for Greater Union cinema complex, Sydney
- Commercial medium project ($500,000 to $2 million): Winner: Rutledge Engineering for Darling Harbour sound system upgrade;
Certificates of Commendation: D&M Electrical Communications for Regional Imaging Riverina, Wagga Wagga, and Transelect for BHP Billiton 66 kV transmission line, Douglas Park - Commercial large project (>$2 million): Winner: Downer EDI Engineering Power for Bathurst Hospital development — Stage 1;
Certificate of Commendation: Stowe Australia for Reserve Bank services upgrade - Judges Choice Award — Transelect for its work on BHP Billiton 66 kV transmission line

The winners are eligible for the national awards to be announced in Sydney on 13 (Apprentice) and 14 (Excellence) November 2008.
